The Grapes
Hills Collide proudly sources grapes from esteemed subregions within the Adelaide Hills. In the central hills, the picturesque Piccadilly Valley, nestled in the shadow of the Mt Lofty Ranges, yields Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from 20-year-old vines, resulting in wines with charismatic elegance and structural finesse.
In the southern region the township of Macclesfield showcases the remarkable qualities of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner. Grüner Veltliner has found its true home in the Adelaide Hills. This Austrian native varietal adapts exceptionally well to the region's unique conditions, resulting in distinctive and exceptional wines with vibrant acidity, crispness, and expressive aromatics.
In The townships of Macclesfield and Kuitpo, we find a new home for Italian varietals such as Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, and Barbera. The cool temperatures and unique microclimates of the southern hills contribute significantly to the finesse and complexity of these wines. With slow ripening, they develop signature aromatics, refined tannins, and complex flavours, showcasing the best of these Italian grape varieties.
Hills Collide's dedication to these distinct subregions and grape varieties allows us to offer exceptional wines that embody the essence of the Adelaide Hills' terroir. From the elegant Chardonnay and Pinot noir to the expressive Grüner Veltliner and the captivating Italian varietals, our collection reflects the diversity and quality of this cool-climate region.
